Hi Holly! I love your website and blog. What kitchen appliances do you recommend to prepare your family’s food? I am so excited to make homemade food for our six month-old son, but I realized that our cuisinart is probably loaded with BPA. Ugh! Do you suggest the Beaba? My only problem with that is that I would like to make larger quantities and freeze some, sometimes. I would love to hear your thoughts on this! Thank you soooo much!
Separately, we just signed up for a CSA, on your recommendation. Thanks!!
Yours,
Tina
Hi Tina!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the blog, and congrats on your 6 month old son!
The best “food processor” on the market is the Vitamix. Though this is a bit on the pricey side, it is a great investment. If you’ve never seen one demonstrated, it will replace your food processor and blender, can grind flour, and can even make soup and ice cream! It’s hard to put into words how much the Vitamix
can do. They are also completely BPA free.
From the Vita-Mix website:
“Vitamix Corporation is proud to announce that their newest household machine, the Vitamix 5200, introduces a container made of Tritan™ copolyester. This new material from the Eastman Chemical Company is not only shatterproof but also BPA-free.
Vitamix is the first company to use the new-generation copolyester in a kitchen appliance. The company chose to use Tritan because of its superior durability and sound-damping properties, but can now offer consumers a container that is free of BPA (bisphenol-A) content.”
Another option is the BabySteps Complete Feeding System
This is BPA-free also, and the complete system comes with a food processor, travel food grinder, cook book, carry case and storage containers. I still use mine all the time. You can also buy each item separately if that works better for you. Though it doesn’t look very big, I found that the processor made enough for me to store some in the freezer.
Though I would love to try the Beaba Babycook Baby Food Maker, I haven’t yet so I can’t recommend it…but I know it’s BPA-free, and it sure does look cute!
Enjoy your CSA! You’ll discover vegetables you didn’t even know existed! I always say that I thought I ate a lot of greens and veggies, and then I joined a CSA and realized I had room for so much more!
Just joined the Vitamix 5200 family. On sale for limited time at Costco for $395 !
