Natural Approach to Treating Thrush

The good news is that it will usually go away on its own within a few weeks, but in the meantime you can speed healing by:

  • boiling any pacifiers and bottle nipples for 20 minutes after each use to sterilize them
  • dab a little acidophilus on the spots in his/her mouth, or
  • dissolve 1/8 teaspoon of lactobacillus bifidus in his/her bottle

If you are breastfeeding:

  • take probiotics
  • supplement with vitamin c
  • avoid sugar (very important since yeast lives on sugar)

  1. Thrush almost de-railed my ability to breastfeed my daughter; however, we got through it and I breastfed my daughter for 14 amazing months. I highly recommend this article to anyone dealing with thrush:

I went on a candida diet for two week (no sugar, no yeast, limited carbs) and took 250 mg capsule of grapefruit seed extract orally three times a day. I washed all my nursing bras in a vinegar/water solution. Also, go outside and get topless – sun is supposed to really help (just make sure you don’t get a sunburn).
