Shady Sunscreen Ingredients

“Hi Holly!  I found a sunscreen that I like (because it comes in a spray bottle) but it is not listed on your site. I thought it was good because it is paraben and fragrance free but it does have some other ingredients in it that I am not sure about. Can you check it out and see if the ingredients are ‘Holly Approved’?”

  1. I checked out this sunscreen and didn’t have to look beyond the active ingredients. It is not “Holly Approved” because oxybenzone is an active ingredient, which has been linked to allergies, hormone disruption and cell damage according to a study recently published by the Center for Disease Control.

This is a great example of why it’s so important to read the labels on personal care products! This company advertises some positive things (paraben and fragrance free) but still uses damaging chemicals. There are many great physical sunblocks you can try- click here for some recommendations.
