Earth Mama, Angel Baby

Earth Mama Angel Baby - Pregnancy
Congrats to this great company who earned a hazard score of ZERO on the Environmental Working Group’s skin deep database.  Nothing toxic or questionable was found in the ingredients of their products!  I LOVE the booby tubes (to prevent clogged ducts and mastitis), the Baby Bottom Balm, and the Nipple Butter (it has a fabulous smell I will always associate with those middle of the night feedings in the early weeks of a new baby.)

Starbucks To the Rescue!

What’s a mom to do? You’re dying for your green tea latte or caramel macchiato, but you know everytime you step foot in Starbucks your baby points at all of the sugary baked goods and then looks into your eyes pleadingly…you want to give in, but can’t bear the thought of feeding those to your child and ruining his tastes buds for natural sweetness forever. (What? This has never happened to you? It will!) Well I have great news- you no longer have to fret, feel guilty, or give up your fix. Starbucks has recently started carrying Peter Rabbit Organics Mango, Banana and Orange Pure Fruit Snack Pouches) and your baby will LOVE them! You just twist off the top, and they happily start slurping away with delight. On a recent trip to Roswell, NM, where it’s hard to find organic healthy snacks I discovered them, so I promptly bought their whole inventory. This is something to keep in mind when traveling, especially to small towns. THANK YOU STARBUCKS!

Baby Acetaminophen Tied To Asthma

WebMD reports that babies given acetaminophen in the first year of life have a 46% increased risk of asthma.  It’ also increases eczema,  and runny nose/itchy eyes.  Click here for the full article.

One of the main reasons it’s given to babies is for teething pain.  There are many alternative safe teething remedies.  We have them posted here- just search teething in our search bar.

Broccoli Water

Doesn’t the title of this post sound so yummy?  Well I try not to laugh, because my toddler LOVES his broccoli water!  When you boil vegetables, lots of the vitamins end up  in the cooking water because they are water soluble.  So, save that water!  You can strain it and put it in a cup for baby to drink right away (my baby loves warm drinks!),  or refrigerate it to add it to soups or smoothies later.  It can also be used to “thin” other vegetables that you puree.  And remember to always serve your baby’s veggies with a little fat (butter or olive oil) so he can absorb the fat soluble vitamins!

Adopting? You Can Breastfeed!

Did you know if you adopt a baby you can breastfeed him or her?  It’s wild but true, and totally amazing.  Turns out that your breasts just need sucking stimulation to produce milk-  no pregnancy necessary!  For a great article on how to prepare your body to nurse your new baby, click here.

Aren’t our bodies incredible?  This blows me away.  If you’re adopting, breastfeed!  If you know someone who is adopting, spread the word!  This is a little known fact, and one that needs to be shared.
